Parish Walks – being spoiled

We are getting some lovely feedback on the Parish Walks recently published following a grant from Somerset County Council, under their Health and Wellbeing initiative.

Sadly the minority are spoiling it for the many. We have had reports of litter being left in fields with livestock, dogs out of control and dog waste left.

If you are new to walking in the countryside, please respect the few rules there are; take your litter home, if your dog doesn’t stick to the path (like you have to) it must be on a lead and pick up ALL dog waste. Our farmers have lost livestock to diseases transmitted through dog faeces.

Please respect the countryside, it’s there for all to enjoy and earn a living from. If a farmer asks you and your dog to stick to the path, do not abuse them. This is their workplace and should be respected as such.
