Notification of Fivehead Parish Licensing application 72219

Somerset Council has received an application for the grant of a premises licence (sale of alcohol) in Fivehead Parish.

The premises is:

Fivehead Village Store, Fivehead Service Station, Langport Road, Fivehead, TA3 6PX

The application requests authorisation for the sale of alcohol for consumption off the premises between the hours of 06.30 to 22.30, Monday to Sunday.

Fivehead Parish Council consulted on the application on 2 September 2024 and voted unanimously in support of the application.  The last date for representations (comments) in relation to this application is Tuesday 24 September 2024.

If you would like to comment, it must be based on what is applied for and must relate to one or more of the licensing objectives:

  • Prevention of Crime and Disorder
  • Public Safety
  • Prevention of Public Nuisance
  • Protection of Children from Harm

If you would like to make a representation, your letter or email should contain information on how you (or your business) would be affected by granting the application.  Your comments can be emailed directly to licensing.south@somerset.gov.uk, referencing 72219.

Making a representation via a representative

Residents can ask a representative, such as a Councillor, to make a representation on their behalf.

If a representative is able to act on a resident’s behalf the resident needs to provide the representative with their name and address and the grounds for their representation, i.e. how the granting of the licence would affect them and a letter of authorisation, which needs to be sent in with the representation.

The representative then submits the representation.  All dialogue and correspondence will be held with the representative.

Steps following a representation

When Somerset Council receives a representation, they let the applicant know and they may be able to put measures in place to address the concerns, for example monitoring noise or checking for litter outside of the premises.  They will then ask the person who made the representation if this addresses their concern and if so, it could become a condition of the licence.

If it isn’t possible to negotiate or agree conditions, a hearing will be held. All persons who have made representations and the applicant are invited to attend a Licensing Sub Committee hearing and will have the opportunity to speak to the sub-committee about their concerns. The committee will listen to all parties and then make a decision, which will be one of the following: to grant the licence as per the application, grant the licence with conditions or refuse the licence.
