Have your say about the future development of South Somerset and your village

South Somerset District Council is reviewing the Local Plan that will cover the period 2016 to 2036. A Preferred Options consultation period is now running from 28 June 2019 to 5pm 18 September 2019.

A document has been produced for consultation on the Council’s proposed strategy for delivering new homes and employment over the period 2016 to 2036, including site allocations and policies against which planning applications will be assessed. 

This Preferred Options consultation provides an opportunity to get involved and give your views and comments. You are able to view summary leaflets, the consultation document with option maps and the updated evidence base; and find a consultation response form to submit your representations electronically, on the Council’s web site at https://www.southsomerset.gov.uk/your-council/your-council-plan-and-strategies/planning-policy/local-plan-review-2016-2036/  

Hard copies of the document can be seen during normal opening hours in Council offices at Brympton Way, Yeovil and Petters Way, Yeovil and in libraries in South Somerset. There will be a series of public drop-in sessions where the consultation document can be viewed and where Council officers will be on hand to help explain how we have got to this stage and answer any queries. These drop-in sessions are as follows:

Fivehead Parish Council will discuss the document at its meetings in Aug and Sep before submitting views. They will welcome comments from parishioners either at these meetings or in writing beforehand.
