We’ve had confirmed cases of Giardia in 3 dogs in the Parish. This nasty bug is most commonly caught by dogs going into water, but it is also spread through infected faeces. IT CAN BE SPREAD TO HUMANS.
It is important that you pick up after your dogs and keep them out of water. If your dog shows symptoms, please take them to the vet.
SYMPTOMS:
Strong smelling, watery diarrhoea
Weight loss Farting (flatulence)
Eating less
Vomiting
Diarrhoea sometimes containing blood.
