Somerset Libraries Service Consultation 2018 – have your say

A public consultation started on 29 January and will last for 12 weeks, seeking to put the service on a sustainable footing for the long-term, at a time when all council budgets are under enormous pressure. You can read the proposals online www.somerset.gov.uk/librariesconsultation  and complete a questionnaire.

Do you use the mobile library that visits St Martin’s Close, Fivehead on Thursdays between 1pm and 1.20 pm every 4 weeks? There is no suggestion that this service will cease but the more it is used, the safer it probably is in the future. Perhaps you would like to use it but are unable to be there when they visit? Some villages have a system where people drop the return books and book withdrawal requests at their local shop/pub/cafe the day before the library is due and a “at home in the daytime” set of volunteers take responsibility for returns and withdrawal when the library turns up. Please email the Clerk on fiveheadpc@gmail.com if that would be of interest.
